Fulham expecting Manchester United approach for Marco Silva

Fulham are bracing themselves for an approach from Manchester United for their manager, Marco Silva’s services.

Manchester United parted ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday following an explosive press conference by the Portuguese manager. The Red Devils are now on the lookout for a new boss, and they have been linked with Fulham’s Marco Silva.

According to a report from The Sun, the Cottagers are aware of United’s interest in his services, and they are expecting a move from the Manchester-based giants for the 48-year-old, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

Silva took charge of Fulham back in 2021. He has managed them in over 200 games and has averaged over 1.5 points per game. The Portuguese manager has done wonders for them and has earned quite a reputation for his work in the Premier League.

Silva is yet to commit his future to Fulham

Thanks to his impressive work at the London club, multiple top clubs in the country have been keeping tabs on him. With his contract running out at the end of the season, quite a few clubs are interested in having him on their bench.

Meanwhile, Fulham have been working hard to secure his long-term future with a new deal. While he already has an offer on the table (a three-and-a-half-year-long contract) since November, he has yet to respond to it. With less than six months left on his deal, the Cottagers are seriously worried about his future.

United to make a move for Silva

While they were hoping he would at least see out the season, a lot has changed following United’s decision to sack Amorim. The Red Devils are massive admirers of Silva and have had him on their wishlist for some time. They were interested in appointing him as their boss even before his compatriot took charge.

As a result, Fulham now expect United to make an approach for the 48-year-old. It will be interesting to see if that happens in the coming days or if they wait until the end of the season, when he will be free to choose a new club. For now, Silva is reluctant to talk about his future, and any decision will depend on Fulham’s ambitions on and off the pitch going forward.
