Slaven Bilic ready to return to West Ham United as Nuno Espirito Santo replacement

Slaven Bilic would be open to returning to West Ham United should the club part ways with under-pressure manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to Ben Jacobs, Slaven Bilic would be prepared to take over as West Ham United’s manager should the club part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo. The Portuguese manager has come under increasing pressure following the disappointing loss to Wolves at the weekend, with the club pondering a change before the situation becomes untenable.

The relegation battle intensified at the weekend, because for the first time this season Wolves won their game and the other close rivals did not. Nottingham Forest lost to Aston Villa in Saturday’s early kick-off, and then later in the day, the relegation favourites, Wolves, thrashed fellow rivals West Ham United at Molineux.

Wolves’ win did not change the equation much, although it was seen as a big opportunity for West Ham to close the gap to Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees still have a four-point advantage over the Hammers, which did make the game against Wolves a must-win in many ways, and they failed.

With the 3-0 scoreline, as underwhelming as it may be, the Hammers lost a massive chance to climb up in the relegation race. The defeat has put immense pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo, with owner David Sullivan already considering the prospects of sacking the Portuguese boss.

Slaven Bilic has been linked with a return to the London Stadium should West Ham part ways with Espirito Santo. The Portuguese tactician arrived earlier in the season following the sacking of Graham Potter, and Sullivan is ready to take another gamble with a change of manager before the club’s situation becomes untenable.

Slaven Bilic to rejoin West Ham?

Slaven Bilic has managed exactly 100 games in the Premier League, with a chunk of them coming for West Ham. The 57-year-old former Premier League manager is now ready to make a return to the London Stadium. The Croatian tactician is out of a job currently, having left his position with Al-Fateh in August 2024.

While the idea of an experienced manager sounds about right for West Ham’s current plight, the Hammers also have Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion-linked Michael Carrick on their list of potential targets. However, Bilic, the 57-year-old former Premier League manager, is being seen as a move realistic and optimal option should Nuno Espirito Santo leave.
