Joshua Zirkzee will retain his spot in the Manchester United starting lineup when they take on Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.
Manchester United will be eager to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Matthijs de Ligt (lower back), Harry Maguire (thigh), Bruno Fernandes (hamstring), Kobbie Mainoo (calf), and Mason Mount (knock) are closing in on returning to action. However, Sunday’s game has come too soon for them.
Additionally, Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo remain at the Africa Cup of Nations with their national teams. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided fitness updates on the injured players.
The Manchester United manager said, “We are going [with] no [fresh] issues, no different issues. We’re going to see tomorrow, we have one more training. I don’t think so, that anyone is going to recover, but we’ll see.”
Meanwhile, during his presser, Amorim also discussed the possibility of playing youngsters again when his charges take on Leeds United at Elland Road this weekend.
The Manchester United boss said, “We look to everything, but they need to be prepared. You can see the squad, it is impossible and we cannot stretch the players that we don’t have at the moment. I will try to put together a team that is ready to cope with that. I will try to read the game and try to understand what I should do to help them.”
Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Leeds United on Sunday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte. Joshua Zirkzee will reprise the no. 10 role, with Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha being the two wide attackers. Finally, Benjamin Sesko will lead the line for the away side against Leeds United this weekend. So, Jack Fletcher, Shea Lacey, and Tyler Fredricson will again be backup options on the bench.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Heaven, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Ugarte; Dorgu, Zirkzee, Cunha; Sesko
