Predicted Liverpool lineup against Tottenham Hotspur: Frimpong to return; Szoboszlai in contention

Jeremie Frimpong will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Liverpool will be eager to continue the recent five-match unbeaten run when they lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening. Arne Slot has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Jeremie Frimpong is fit and available after recovering from a hamstring injury. Additionally, Conor Bradley is available after serving a suspension last weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo, Joe Gomez, and Cody Gakpo remain in the treatment room.

Additionally, Mohamed Salah is unavailable after joining Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations. However, Dominik Szoboszlai should be fit and available to take on Tottenham, although he faces a late fitness test to determine his availability. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided fitness updates on Gomez, Szoboszlai, and Gakpo.

The Liverpool manager said, “He [Gakpo] had a scan that looked promising so that means that we are not that worried anymore, as we were maybe one or two weeks ago. So that means he might come back a bit earlier than expected two weeks ago, but that’s definitely not tomorrow and also not next week.”

“Joe is not in the squad as well for the weekend and Dominik trained yesterday, parts of the training [session], for the first time so let’s see where he is today and how he is tomorrow. Jeremie is in the squad again as well. If the player feels comfortable to play and he did all the things he had to do, then he will start. If he can fulfil the whole session or he fulfils it but he doesn’t feel comfortable himself, we will have a discussion.”

Alisson Becker is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-3-1-2 formation in front of him against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The backline will feature Jeremie Frimpong, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch, with Curtis Jones waiting in the wings if Szoboszlai is not fit enough to start. Finally, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak will be the two strikers, with Florian Wirtz reprising the no. 10 role behind them.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Wirtz; Isak, Ekitike
