West Ham United contact Nuno Espirito Santo to replace Graham Potter

West Ham United may pursue 51-year-old Portuguese tactician Nuno Espirito Santo to replace Graham Potter if they decide to part ways with the former Chelsea manager.

According to a report by Ben Jacobs on Give Me Sport, Nuno Espirito Santo is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have kept their options open after a dreadful start to the 2025/26 season. The poor run of results has left the East London club in the relegation zone, as they have managed only three points in their first four games.

So, West Ham may part ways with Potter in the coming weeks, and they have set their sights on the former Tottenham Hotspur manager, who has recently become a free agent after losing his job at Nottingham Forest. The latest update has revealed that the Hammers have contacted Nuno’s entourage over a possible move.

Nuno Espirito Santo and his career so far

Nuno Espirito Santo has established himself as a highly rated manager in the Premier League over the last eight years. The Portuguese tactician managed some of the most well-known clubs in the world before taking over at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017. However, he rose in prominence after guiding the Black Country outfit to the top flight, enjoying an excellent stint with the Black Country outfit before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2021.

However, the spell with Tottenham did not last long, with the North London club parting ways with the 51-year-old after a few weeks. His next project came with Al-Ittihad, which ended after only one year. However, Nuno resurrected his fortunes after moving to Nottingham Forest in December 2023.

Nuno Espirito Santo enjoyed a solid spell with Nottingham Forest, first helping the Midlands club avoid relegation from the Premier League before guiding his charges to a surprise seventh-place finish, which yielded European qualification. However, an increasingly frosty relationship with Evangelos Marinakis and Edu ended the former Tottenham manager’s time at Nottingham Forest.

What next for Nuno?

Meanwhile, Graham Potter has struggled to guide West Ham United to stability since taking over at the London Stadium last year, winning only six times in 24 outings thus far. The 2025/26 season has been dreadful, with West Ham sitting in the relegation zone after managing only three points in four games. So, the Hammers are mulling over parting ways with Potter, with Nuno emerging as a target.

The Hammers have already contacted the former Tottenham manager over the possibility of replacing Potter at the London Stadium. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 51-year-old Portuguese tactician amid his links with West Ham.
