West Ham United may attempt to re-sign 57-year-old Croatian tactician Slaven Bilic if they part ways with Graham Potter, whose future at the London Stadium is uncertain.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Slaven Bilic is the subject of interest of West Ham United. The Hammers have kept their options open in the managerial market after a dreadful start to the 2025/26 season. So, with Graham Potter increasingly under pressure at the London Stadium, Bilic has emerged as an option to replace him at the East London club.
Slaven Bilic and his managerial career thus far
Slaven Bilic has endured a topsy-turvy ride since entering the managerial sphere after his playing career. The Croat began and ended his time as a footballer at Hajduk Split, enjoying spells in Germany and the Premier League between those stints. However, the former defender was a regular for Croatia and made 44 appearances for his national side.
The 57-year-old dipped his toes in the managerial world in 2001, and he has managed Hajduk Split, Croatia Under-21, the Croatian national side, Lokomotiv Moscow, Besiktas, West Ham United, Al-Ittihad, West Bromwich Albion, Beijing Guoan, Watford, and Al-Fateh, leaving the latter over a year ago.
The Croatian tactician’s most fruitful stints have come with West Ham and Besiktas, but he has yet to win a trophy in his managerial career. Nevertheless, Bilic’s stock in the market is high, and a return to West Ham United may be on the cards amid uncertainties surrounding Graham Potter’s long-term future.
London return on the horizon?
West Ham United’s interest in Slaven Bilic is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a new manager amid increasing pressure on Graham Potter. The former Chelsea boss has a paltry winning rate of 25 per cent in 24 outings thus far as the West Ham manager.
Additionally, the Hammers have been slow off the blocks in the 2025/26 season, managing only three points in four matches thus far in the Premier League. They have also bowed out of the EFL Cup in the second round. So, it is hardly surprising that several candidates, including Nuno Espirito Santo, have emerged on West Ham’s radar, with Bilic also a viable target.
The 57-year-old Croatian tactician knows the East London club inside out, with his longest managerial stint coming with West Ham. However, Potter is not under immediate pressure at West Ham, and a positive result against Crystal Palace this weekend will loosen the noose.
