Crystal Palace are set for crunch talks with manager Oliver Glasner over a new deal amid interest from RB Leipzig, while Tottenham are also keen.
According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace will sit down with Oliver Glasner to determine his future, as the club are eager to hold on to the Australian manager. There is growing interest from RB Leipzig in the Palace boss, while Tottenham are also gearing up for an offensive to replace Ange Postecoglou.
Oliver Glasner has proven his worth as a top manager in the Premier League with the way he has developed this Crystal Palace side since his arrival nearly 18 months ago. The Austrian could still have a successful season with the Eagles as he has already taken them into the FA Cup semi-finals, as well as finishing in the top half of the Premier League standings.
Palace are not keen to part ways with Glasner ahead of the summer, amid interest from RB Leipzig. The German giants have parted ways with Marco Rose after an abysmal season on all fronts. The Bundesliga side are eager to lure in Glasner as his replacement, which could force the Eagles to open talks immediately with the Austrian.
It appears that Glasner is not considering a return to the Bundesliga and wants to continue in the Premier League. He is very much happy at Crystal Palace as things stand, although his management probably would need a bigger pay package, as he could easily get a sizeable offer from another team in England.
Incidentally, Tottenham are keen on Glasner and willing to pay a premium salary to lure the Austrian to North London in the summer. Crystal Palace want a renewal for their manager and could open talks in the coming period to keep hold of the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss for the next phase of the project at Selhurst Park.
Tottenham could push for Oliver Glasner
Tottenham have developed doubts about Ange Postecoglou as there is a significant chance they could part ways with the Australian in the summer. The only thread holding the current Spurs manager to his job is the team’s Europa League campaign, as winning it would mean significant success and a path into next season’s Champions League.
As per Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Spurs are eager to explore a move for Glasner, as they could push to appoint the Austrian in the summer. However, many problems are brewing in the background, as Spurs could still part ways with the Australian in the summer.
Spurs have a few top names on their list, although Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola are likely to be unavailable in the summer, meaning they could realistically push for Glasner to become their next manager. So, it is hardly surprising that Crystal Palace are keen to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.
