Ange Postecoglou remains safe at Tottenham despite faltering results

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in no rush to part ways with Ange Postecoglou despite recent disappointing results.

Tottenham suffered yet another defeat on Sunday as they lost 2-0 to Fulham. They are 14th in the league with 15 defeats in their 29 outings. Things have not gone according to plan for Ange Postecoglou’s team this season.

With results not going their way, the pressure is increasing on the Australian manager. But, according to Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport, Tottenham are not looking to sack Postecoglou. His job remains safe for the time being.

Postecoglou made an impressive start to life at the North London club after he took charge ahead of the 2023/24 season. While the fans expected them to take the next step in the ongoing campaign, and they even made some significant investments to bolster their squad, things have not worked out.

Spurs’ disappointing 2024/25 campaign

Tottenham have struggled to win games, they are already out of both domestic cup competitions and their only hope for silverware is the UEFA Europa League. The disappointing results across competitions have resulted in Postecoglou being tipped for the sack.

But, the North London club have not taken any strict measures just yet as they had an injury crisis at the club in the winter months. Ange Postecoglou was forced to play with a make-shift backline where Archie Gray featured in the heart of the defence, while Djed Spence featured on the left flank, instead of the right.

While the injury crisis did give him some leeway, the Australian manager still has not been able to get the desired results despite the return of quite a few of his first-team stars.

Romano’s take on Ange Postecoglou’s future

Despite Tottenham Hotspur’s poor performances, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that he is not under pressure to be sacked.

In his newsletter for GiveMeSport, Romano wrote, “At the moment, Tottenham’s full focus is on the present. Especially the Europa League, as a crucial target for Spurs this season. Nothing else coming from sources close to the club.”

Postecoglou’s future might depend on the Europa League

While things are not going Tottenham’s way, Daniel Levy is more focused on the present rather than the future of their manager. He wants to ensure there is no pressure on the Australian, who he is allowed to work freely to help them reach the later stages of the Europa League.

They might not have held talks about his future yet, but things could quickly change if they get knocked out of Europe and lose the only opportunity to end their title drought.
