Manuel Ugarte will replace Casemiro in the Manchester United starting lineup against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
Manchester United will aim to continue the recent unbeaten run when they lock horns with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday evening. Ruben Amorim has greeted a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Mason Mount is closing in on returning to action and should be in the matchday squad against Leicester City on Sunday. However, Patrick Dorgu is unavailable as he finishes up his Premier League suspension this weekend. In addition, Harry Maguire might not be fit enough to be on the bench.
The duo accompanies Altay Bayindir (unspecified), Tom Heaton (knock), Luke Shaw (calf), Lisandro Martinez (knee), Leny Yoro (foot), Kobbie Mainoo (calf), and Amad Diallo (ankle) on the sidelines. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided a fitness update on Mount.
The Manchester United manager said, “I think he is going to [be on] the bench. We will see, but we need every player and if he is fit, I am going to play him. He cannot play too many minutes, just five minutes of Mason Mount is perfect.”
“I already said, I really love Mason Mount. I see him and I know how he suffers. He does everything right. He eats right, his physical aspect is perfect, he is trying too much and maybe he is thinking too much about everything. He was European champion, he is a talent and he is a really talented player.”
The Manchester United boss continued, “When a player does everything like he does, he will always have the support of everybody here in the club. So we will try to manage the load and you already saw some players who have a lot of problems during one time, in some moments, he can stay fit and I believe a lot in Mason Mount and we need players like Mason Mount.”
With a few players returning from injuries, Amorim should make rotations on Sunday, with Victor Lindelof, Manuel Ugarte, and Christian Eriksen likely returning. Andre Onana will take his spot between the sticks, with the away side lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against Leicester City on Sunday. The central defensive unit should feature Lindelof, Matthijs de Ligt, and Ayden Heaven.
Meanwhile, there is no looking past Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui as the two wing-backs. Ugarte will likely replace Casemiro as Bruno Fernandes’s midfield partner, with the Brazilian midfield getting some rest. Finally, Joshua Zirkzee will spearhead the away side’s attack against Leicester City on Sunday, with Eriksen and Alejandro Garnacho providing creative support.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Lindelof, de Ligt, Heaven; Dalot, Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes, Mazraoui; Garnacho, Eriksen; Zirkzee
