Tottenham are keen on appointing Oliver Glasner as their next manager, but Crystal Palace are determined to secure his long-term future.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Crystal Palace are keen on securing the long-term future of their manager, Oliver Glasner, who is on the radar of Tottenham. The Eagles want to reward him for his work with improved terms and want to ensure they keep their rivals at bay.
Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson as manager at the start of 2024. He had quite an impact during the second half of the 2023/24 season. But things did not really go according to plan for him in the first half of the ongoing season. The departure of a few key stars was a massive blow, as they ended up winning just one out of their first nine league games.
A new deal for Oliver Glasner
Despite the poor start, the board backed Glasner to turn things around, and he has delivered as they sit above Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United with 39 points. The Eagles have amassed 19 points since the start of 2025, the second-highest tally behind Liverpool (25).
On the back of impressive performances, Crystal Palace now want to hand the Austrian manager a new contract. They want to reward Oliver Glasner for his work while also ensuring that rival clubs do not lure him away.
Tottenham keen on signing Glasner
Tottenham are interested in the 50-year-old amid uncertainties surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future. Having watched him in action up close, they feel he is the perfect fit for their club. The North London club could make a move to sign him if they end up parting ways with Ange Postecoglou, who has not been able to deliver the desired results.
While the Australian manager did a great job in his debut campaign, Tottenham have been struggling this time around. Injuries have played a part in their struggle, but they still expected better from the former Celtic boss. If Spurs decide to move on from Postecoglou, they can certainly try to lure Glasner.
However, it won’t be easy, as Palace are pushing for a new deal that will secure his immediate future and extend his contract beyond 2026. The 50-year-old is happy at Selhurst Park and understands that the club stuck by him despite a difficult start to the new campaign. If the Eagles can assure him of their commitment to building with the current squad, he may be inclined to stay.
