Manchester United will reportedly pursue a deal for 51-year-old Brentford manager Thomas Frank to replace Ruben Amorim if they part ways with the Portuguese tactician.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Thomas Frank is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The update has bizarrely suggested that the Red Devils are weighing up parting ways with Ruben Amorim amid their never-ending horrendous form. So, the 51-year-old Brentford manager has emerged as a target for the Premier League bigwigs.
Thomas Frank has established himself as one of the best managers in the Premier League since taking Brentford to the top flight a few years ago. The Dane has made his mark in the first division, with the Bees becoming mainstays in the competition in recent seasons.
Despite struggling to break into the top half of the Premier League table since last season, Frank’s charges have made their mark in a few games. The 51-year-old has overseen over 300 ties as Brentford’s manager, winning more matches than he has lost thus far.
Under Frank’s tutelage, Brentford’s USP is the never-say-die attitude that has helped them get the better of Premier League bigwigs in the last few seasons. Meanwhile, the Danish tactician’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Manchester United might be one of the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the coming months.
Manchester United’s interest in Thomas Frank is bizarre. The Red Devils mulled over signing the Brentford manager before replacing Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim. However, despite Amorim’s struggles since arriving from Sporting CP a few months ago, it would be foolish to end that project already.
Manchester United introduced an entirely new system under Amorim when the Portuguese tactician took over from Erik ten Hag. In addition, most players lack the required fitness levels to be ready to shine under Amorim. So, the former Sporting CP manager needs time to make his mark at Old Trafford.
Replacing Amorim only a few months after he arrived from Sporting CP would be a ridiculous decision. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Red Devils part ways with the Portuguese tactician and replace him with 51-year-old Brentford boss Thomas Frank.
