Conor Bradley and Darwin Nunez will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg at Anfield on Thursday.
Liverpool were beaten 1-0 in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and they will look to turn things around and book their place in the final of the competition when they host the North London club at Anfield in the second leg on Thursday night.
However, Arne Slot has a new injury concern heading into his side’s latest fixture. Liverpool will be without star defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold because of a hamstring injury he picked up this past weekend against Bournemouth. Slot provided a fitness update on the English international during his pre-match press conference.
The Dutch tactician said, “I think you saw that he left the pitch with a bit of pain in his leg, so that’s why he misses the game tomorrow. But he is already on the pitch, not with the team but with the rehab coach, so let’s see how long it is going to take. But he will not be available tomorrow.”
Other than Alexander-Arnold’s absence, Slot will have a fully fit squad to choose from against Tottenham on Thursday night. Liverpool are likely to shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Alisson Becker in goal.
Conor Bradley is likely to deputise in the absence of Alexander-Arnold. Andrew Robertson will start in the left-back slot. The two players will look to help out at both ends of the pitch. Ibrahima Konate will form the central defensive partnership alongside Virgil van Dijk.
As for the midfield unit, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will start in the middle of the park, and they will look to add defensive cover and composure to the side. Dominik Szoboszlai will start as the attacking midfielder, and he will look to carve out goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates.
Finally, Darwin Nunez will lead the line for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg at Anfield on Thursday, with Mohammed Salah and Luis Diaz on either side of him.
