Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Ipswich Town at Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool have been the best team in the Premier League so far, but they have dropped points in recent weeks. The Reds cannot afford to falter at this stage of the season, especially with Arsenal breathing down their necks.
Arne Slot’s men will be desperate for all three points and the fans will want a comprehensive victory this week when they host Ipswich Town at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Liverpool are up against one of the worst teams in the division, and Ipswich are currently struggling with a lack of form and confidence. The visitors will need a major slice of luck to upset the odds here.
Liverpool will be without the services of Diogo Jota (muscle) and Joe Gomez (hamstring) this weekend. In addition, Arne Slot confirmed during his pre-match press conference that Curtis Jones will miss the match due to an injury he picked up during the UEFA Champions League win over LOSC Lille earlier this week.
The Liverpool manager said during the presser, “He [Jones] went out during half-time, so that’s mostly not a good sign, and it wasn’t because he will not be available for the game tomorrow.”
Alisson Becker is set to start in goal for Liverpool as they shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch from the full-back positions. Ibrahima Konate will start alongside Virgil van Dijk in the central defensive partnership, with Jarell Quansah making way.
As for the midfield unit, Alexis Mac Allister will add creativity and control to the side along with Ryan Gravenberch. The Dutch International will add defensive cover and technical ability in the middle of the park.
Dominik Szoboszlai will be deployed in the attacking midfield role, and he will look to create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates and drive the team forward. Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will continue in the wide areas, with Darwin Nunez leading the line for the home side against Ipswich Town.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez
