Predicted Liverpool lineup against Manchester United: Szoboszlai, Jota to return; Gomez ruled out

Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool will aim to stretch the gap atop the Premier League table when they welcome Manchester United to Anfield on Sunday evening. And Arne Slot has greeted a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Dominik Szoboszlai is available after serving a suspension last week against West Ham United. The good news does not stop there, with Conor Bradley (hamstring) and Ibrahima Konate (knee) resuming training this week.

However, Joe Gomez has entered the treatment room after picking up a hamstring injury last weekend against West Ham. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot provided a fitness update on Konate, Bradley, and Gomez.

The Liverpool manager said, “Joe is of course not in a good place when it comes to his injury. He is out for a few weeks, that’s for sure. Conor and Ibou will train with us today [Friday] for the first time. So, [I am] curious and interested to see where they exactly are, of course.”They have worked hard to come back to the team but the next step is always, ‘How do you handle team sessions?'”

“They will train with us today, the two of them. Of course they still have to come in but we trained yesterday and I assume everybody is fit, although we are in a period of time where some people get sick as well, but I have heard nothing about that yet. So, hopefully everybody is ready – except for Joe Gomez – to be part of the game on Sunday.”

While Konate should have trained twice before Sunday’s game, Slot might not risk a recurrence of injury. So, Jarell Quansah should pair up with Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool’s central defensive partnership. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will be the two full-backs, with Alisson Becker picking himself between the sticks.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the double pivot, with Dominik Szoboszlai reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Diogo Jota should lead the line for the home side against Manchester United, with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz being the two wide attackers.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota
