Luis Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Liverpool have started the season really well, and they are on top of the table. The reds will look to extend the gap to their title rivals when they lock horns with Everton in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Liverpool will be without Alexis Mac Allister after the Argentine international picked up his fifth yellow card of the league campaign during the midweek. Arne Slot will also be bereft of the services of Alisson Becker, who is still recovering from his hamstring injury. Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are sidelined with the injuries they picked up against Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Diogo Jota is on the path to recovery, and he is expected to return to action soon. Federico Chiesa has returned from his injury, but he is lacking in match fitness. The Italian international might be a part of the squad, but he is unlikely to start. Slot spoke about several players during his pre-match press conference.
“Not ready yet, but he will be ready very soon,” Slot told the media of Alisson before continuing, “With Diogo being close to being back, Federico being close to being back, and the same for Alisson. That means only Ibou [Konate], Conor [Bradley] and Kostas [Tsimikas] are a bit further away from playing time.”
Liverpool are likely to start in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Everton, with Caoimhin Kelleher in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start as the full-backs. They will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. At the heart of the defence, Joe Gomez will start alongside Virgil van Dijk.
As for the midfield unit, Curtis Jones will fill the void left by Mac Allister, and he will start alongside Ryan Gravenberch in the double pivot. The two players will look to add composure, control and defensive cover to the side.
Dominik Szoboszlai will be deployed in the attacking midfield role, and he will look to create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates in the final third. Finally, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will feature on the flanks, and Cody Gakpo is set to lead the line, with Darwin Nunez dropping to the bench.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Gakpo
