Ruben Amorim will ring in the changes when Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt clash in a UEFA Europa League clash at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Manchester United will be eager to hand Ruben Amorim his first win as the club’s head coach when they welcome Bodo/Glimt to Old Trafford in a UEFA Europa League tie on Thursday night. And Amorim continues to see his squad’s fitness woes reduce ahead of his first European fixture in charge of the Red Devils.
The central defensive options remain depleted, with Harry Maguire (calf), Leny Yoro (foot), and Victor Lindelof (toe) unavailable, although Maguire has resumed training. However, the left wing-back crisis has eased, with Luke Shaw closing in on making his first start of the 2024/25 season. In addition, Lisandro Martinez is fit and available.
In addition, Malacia should return soon, while Maguire and Yoro will likely feature again imminently. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim confirmed Martinez’s availability while speaking about other players.
The Manchester United head coach said, “Not Harry. Licha is ready. He didn’t stop [playing] too much time so I feel he is ready. It is a different situation with Harry, we need them both but they are in a different situation. They are both training, Harry soon will be on the pitch also.”
Amorim also provided a brief update on Yoro, revealing that he has been working on the French defensive prodigy’s fitness. The Portuguese tactician said, “He is available to train but we are working on his fitness. This is important.”
While Martinez is available, Amorim will likely hold him back until the weekend. So, Jonny Evans should start again, lining up alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in the central defensive unit. Andre Onana will retain his spot between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-3 formation in front of him.
As for the midfield unit, Casemiro should replace Manuel Ugarte, lining up alongside Christian Eriksen in the double pivot.
