Newcastle United not planning to sack Eddie Howe amid Jose Mourinho links

Newcastle United are not looking to part ways with Eddie Howe any time soon despite being linked with Jose Mourinho.

According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United have no intentions of parting ways with Eddie Howe. The Magpies prepared to back him given the kind of work he has done in the last three years. While Jose Mourinho seems quite interested in the Newcastle job, he will have to look elsewhere to fulfil his desire to return to England.

Howe was appointed as the new boss of the Magpies in 2021 shortly after the PIF took control of the club. So far, the Englishman has led them in a total of 139 games, winning 70, drawing 30 and losing 39. He has transformed them from relegation battlers in the English top flight to serious European contenders.

The Tyneside club did not have the best of times last season as they failed to secure a European spot, and they have endured a mixed start to the new campaign. That has resulted in a lot of speculation about the future of their manager Howe.

Mourinho is interested in the Newcastle job

Multiple reports have suggested the club have started looking for alternatives in case Howe fails to live up to the expectations. Jose Mourinho has emerged as a potential candidate to replace the former Bournemouth manager.

The Portuguese manager has an exceptional record as a manager of English clubs. He has won the Premier League three titles along with a few other trophies during his time as the boss of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

While Mourinho is currently managing Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Mourinho is said to be unhappy in Turkiye, and he is eyeing a return to the Premier League. The Portuguese manager feels he has some unfinished business in England, and he is eyeing the Newcastle job.

Newcastle United to back Eddie Howe

Reports suggested that the Magpies could look to replace Howe with a renowned name like Mourinho. But, in reality, the Tyneside club have no intentions of sacking the 46-year-old. The owners are quite happy with Howe and are not considering an alternative at this stage.

Howe has earned plenty of credit because of his work at the club over the last three years, and the people at the club are ready to back him as they look to establish Newcastle United as one of the giants in English football.
