Everton and West Ham United are both interested in appointing former FC Porto boss Sergio Conceicao as their new manager.
Ruben Amorim might not be the only Portuguese manager heading to the Premier League. The former Sporting CP boss is all set to take charge at Manchester United and his former rival Sergio Conceicao could soon make the move to England.
According to a report from talkSPORT, Everton and West Ham United are both interested in the services of the former FC Porto manager. Both clubs have had a poor start to the new campaign and they are considering appointing Conceicao as their next boss.
The 49-year-old had a seven-year-long successful spell at FC Porto that ended in the summer. He guided the Portuguese giants to three league titles among 11 major honours. Conceicao has been on the lookout for a new role since leaving Porto and as things stand, he could be headed to the English top flight.
Conceicao could be heading to England
He was on the wishlist of West Ham United during the summer when they were looking to replace David Moyes. The Hammers ended up signing Julen Lopetegui and backed him with significant funds in the summer. Unfortunately, the Spanish manager hasn’t been able to deliver the desired results.
The Irons have lost five out of their 10 league outings and are 14th on the points table. Lopetegui’s place in the team is under scrutiny and the report suggests a few of the senior players are not on board with him. The club could look to replace him with Conceicao if the former Real Madrid boss fails to turn things around.
Meanwhile, Everton are also interested in the Portuguese manager. Sean Dyche is under pressure as his team are 16th on the table with just two wins in 10 outings. With Dan Friedkin taking control of the club, they could look to replace Dyche and Conceicao could be seen as a progress appointment.
Given the kind of success the 49-year-old has had in Portugal, he can surely help the Merseyside club avoid the drop and then help them rebuild.
