Predicted Manchester United lineup against West Ham United: Bruno Fernandes to return; Antony ruled out

Bruno Fernandes will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Manchester United will aim to continue the recent unbeaten run and return to winning ways when they lock horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon. And Erik ten Hag has a new injury concern hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Antony is the latest absentee after picking up an ankle injury earlier this week against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League. The Brazilian international could only manage a brief substitute appearance before going off the pitch on a stretcher.

The former Ajax winger has joined Luke Shaw (calf), Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee), Harry Maguire (calf), Kobbie Mainoo (hamstring), and Mason Mount (knock) on the sidelines. In addition, Erik ten Hag hopes to have Jonny Evans back against West Ham, and he suggested the same during his comments ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Manchester United manager said, “We’re staying overnight [in Turkey] and then straight to London, training Saturday. We expect, of course, Bruno back and, hopefully, also Jonny Evans.”

“I haven’t seen it, it’s only what I have to tell you out of the second hand, so from the doctor and the physio, who told me what they saw. So, first, I have to see the video before I can give comment on this.”

While Antony would have never started against West Ham, his absence leaves Manchester United short of backup options in the final third. Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for the away side against West Ham, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho being the two wide attackers.

As for the midfield unit, Manuel Ugarte and Christian Eriksen should continue pairing up in the double pivot. Casemiro will be an option on the bench. As for the backline, Noussair Mazraoui should return to his usual right-back berth, joining Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martinez, and Diogo Dalot in the defensive quartet. Finally, there is no looking past Andre Onana between the sticks.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Eriksen, Ugarte; Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund
