Crystal Palace considering Graham Potter as Oliver Glasner replacement

Sir Jim Ratcliffe could replace Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter at Manchester United.

Crystal Palace are looking to appoint former Chelsea boss Graham Potter as their next manager, with Oliver Glasner’s position under threat.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Crystal Palace are interested in the services of Graham Potter as they have started to plan for life without Oliver Glasner. The Eagles have had a poor start to the new campaign, and they are considering appointing the former Chelsea boss as their next manager.

Glasner took charge of Crystal Palace at the start of the year. He did wonders for them in the second half of the season, and a lot was expected from his team for the 2024/25 season. But, things have not gone according to plan as they find themselves 18th on the points table. The Eagles are yet to win a game in the league.

The departure of Joachim Andersen and Michael Olise has had a massive impact on their squad, and the Austrian tactician is finding it difficult to get things together. While Crystal Palace are willing to back him for as long as possible, they will show him the exit door if things continue in a similar fashion in the next weeks.

Steve Parish has already started to look at alternatives in case they sack Glasner. Gareth Southgate who parted ways with England at the end of Euro 2024 is quite high on their wishlist. He has a history with the club as a player and they want to bring him back.

But, the former England boss has his reservations about taking the job and more importantly, he has decided to take a break from the game which makes convincing him very difficult for Parish.

Graham Potter is on Crystal Palace’s wishlist

Crystal Palace are also looking at other available options, and former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is someone who is highly admired by the people at the club. The Englishman has been without a job since parting ways with the Blues in April last year and could prove to be a great acquisition.

Potter’s time at Chelsea might not have been that great, but the 49-year-old did do wonders at Brighton back in the day. Given the kind of impact he had there, he can certainly help Crystal Palace get things back on track. While he is highly admired by Parish, they are willing to back Glasner as long as they do not find themselves in a situation where they could end up getting relegated.
