Simone Inzaghi has agreed to join Manchester United

Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi has agreed to take over as Manchester United’s next manager.

While Manchester United seem to backing Erik ten Hag for now, they have already started the search for their next box. Their priority targets Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel are no longer a possibility. As a result, they have been looking elsewhere to identify someone who can help revive the club.

The United board is quite impressed with the work Simone Inzaghi has done at Inter Milan and they are keen on bringing him to Old Trafford. According to a report from InterLive, the Italian manager has already given the green light to lead the Manchester-based club starting next season.

Inzaghi had an exceptional career as a player and after calling it a day back in 2010, he started working as a youth coach at Lazio. He came up the ranks and eventually became their first team manager. After a five-year-long stint at Lazio, he joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 and hasn’t looked back since.

He guided the Italian giants to the Serie A title last season and under his leadership, they fought in the Champions League final the year before. Inzaghi has an attractive and attacking style of play and he has helped Inter re-establish themselves as one of the best in Italy.

United get the green light from Inzaghi

His work seems to have attracted the interest of Manchester United who are currently on the lookout for a new manager. The Red Devils decided to back Erik ten Hag during the summer, they gave him significant funds to improve the squad. But, the results haven’t followed and his future has been uncertain for a while now.

The Dutch manager continues to be their boss for now. He won’t be around for long as the United board is dissatisfied with his work. If not in the middle of the season, they will surely show him the exit door once the 2024/25 season comes to an end.

They have identified Inzaghi as the perfect replacement. While the Italian manager signed a new €6.5 million net per season deal last year, he could soon be earning even more at Old Trafford. The report suggests he has already accepted the offer to lead United next season.

He has given the green light and the details of a potential move as expected to take shape in the coming weeks. The 48-year-old has only held two meetings with the United board but he already seems excited to be their new boss as they have promised an almost unlimited budget to improve the squad and a massive three-year-long deal.
