Manchester United have initiated discussions with Zinedine Zidane to explore the possibility of the French great to replace Erik ten Hag.
According to Fichajes, Manchester United are holding discussions with Zinedine Zidane about becoming their new manager. The talks might still be at an exploratory stage. But the pressure on Erik ten Hag seems to be growing by the day, as a decision on his future could come soon.
Manchester United are seriously considering replacing Erik ten Hag despite all the media claims that the Dutchman will be given more time to prove his worth. A host of names are being considered in the background to replace the Dutchman.
Newcastle United will block any Eddie Howe approach from Manchester United, while Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel are no longer available. The latter duo made the calls, which has boosted ten Hag’s chances. The Red Devils are particularly keen on Tuchel, who chose to take the England role.
Manchester United also have Ruben Amorim on their shortlist, and now the report states a possible approach for Zinedine Zidane. The French legend has been out of a job since leaving Real Madrid a few years ago, and so far, he has yet to take up any role despite links to some big clubs like the Red Devils and PSG in the past.
Manchester United are indeed interested in Zidane, but there were other aspects in the past that could pose a problem towards a move. For instance, many have suggested that the 52-year-old former Real Madrid manager does not prefer English football and does have issues with fluency in the language, and it remains to be seen whether that is a deal breaker for the Red Devils.
Talks with Zidane are ongoing
Irerespective of why Zidane has not made his way to England to manage a top-flight club, the report insists that Manchester United are holding discussions about a switch with the 52-year-old former Real Madrid manager. They might be exploring the idea of replacing ten Hag with the French legend, as time will tell whether that is a possibility.
As for Zidane, he has not been desperate to take up a new role since he departed from Real Madrid. Over there, he won three straight Champions League titles before quitting the role and returning at the request of Florentino Perez. Whether he wants to return to management, especially with Manchester United, remains to be seen.
