Erik ten Hag given two games to save Manchester United job; Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter top targets to replace him

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under a lot of pressure after his team’s disappointing start to the 2024/25 season.

Erik ten Hag has now been given two games to salvage his future or he could be replaced soon. According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United will have to win the upcoming games against Brentford and Fenerbahce in order for the Dutch manager to keep his job.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking at Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter as potential options to replace him. Tuchel is currently out of a job and he has been linked with the England national team as well.

It remains to be seen whether the German is ready to take over at Old Trafford. He has previously been linked with Manchester United as well. Tuchel is regarded as one of the finest tacticians in the game and there is no doubt that he could be a quality addition.

Erik ten Hag has been backed significantly with funds over the years but he has not been able to get the job done at Old Trafford. This might be the right time for Manchester United to make a change.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter has been without a job as well ever since he departed from Chelsea. He did an excellent job at Brighton prior to that and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United are prepared to hand him an opportunity to manage a big club once again. His time at Chelsea was heavily criticised.

Potter remains a quality manager and he will be desperate to prove his worth at a big club if the opportunity presents itself. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Can Erik ten Hag save his job?

Ten Hag will certainly be desperate to save his job and win the upcoming games against Brentford and Fenerbahce. There is no doubt that Manchester United have quality players at their disposal and they should be winning these games.

A club of their structure should be challenging for Champions League football and major trophies every season. Instead, they are 14th in the league table right now and it remains to be seen whether the manager can turn things around. Manchester United have the players to produce quality results consistently and the manager will have to get the best out of them.
