Serie A champions Inter Milan are reportedly considering 57-year-old former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to replace Simone Inzaghi, a target for Manchester United.
According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi might leave Inter Milan and join Manchester United if the Red Devils part ways with Erik ten Hag. However, the Serie A champions have started planning for life after the Italian tactician, identifying former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as the top target to replace him.
Jurgen Klopp is one of the greatest managers of his generation, winning almost every major trophy his teams have competed for in the last decade and a half. The German tactician enjoyed tremendous success with Liverpool, lifting the elusive Premier League title after three decades.
In addition, Klopp guided Liverpool to the one UEFA Champions League triumph apart from success in cup competitions and progress to multiple finals. However, the 57-year-old called time on his legendary spell with Liverpool this past summer after nearly a decade at Anfield, citing fatigue.
Liverpool replaced Klopp with Arne Slot, with the Dutch tactician guiding the Reds to the top of the Premier League table this past weekend. Meanwhile, widespread reports have linked Klopp with several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona. However, Inter Milan will look to bring the former Liverpool manager out of semi-retirement.
Inter Milan’s interest in Jurgen Klopp is understandable. The Serie A champions are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Simone Inzaghi, with Manchester United considering him as the replacement for Erik ten Hag. With the Red Devils suffering an embarrassing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur this past weekend, the links might intensify.
So, Inter Milan should plan for life after Inzaghi if Manchester United can turn the Italian tactician’s head. Klopp has thus emerged as the top target for the Nerazzurri, although they might struggle to convince the 57-year-old German tactician to end his hiatus and move to San Siro.
However, the Serie A champions also have other options on their radar if the former Liverpool boss does not agree to replace the Manchester United target. Diego Simeone is also on Inter Milan’s wishlist, and a move for the Atletico Madrid manager might be on the cards.
