Predicted Manchester United lineup against Tottenham: Mainoo to return; Garnacho in for Rashford

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Manchester United will be desperate to return to winning ways when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Sunday evening. And Erik ten Hag does not have any new injury concerns hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Luke Shaw (calf), Leny Yoro (foot), Tyrell Malacia (knee), and Victor Lindelof (toe) remain on the sidelines. Everyone except Yoro should be back in action next month. However, Erik ten Hag provided an update on the Frenchman’s recovery ahead of this weekend’s game.

The Dutch tactician said, “Yes, he is doing very well. It is very pleasing that his rehab is going in the right direction and I expect him soon, but what I mean by soon, is that he is now in the right planning process. He is in the right spot and he will return as soon as possible into the squad and then the team training.”

The Manchester United manager also discussed other team news-related topics during his pre-match press conference. He said, “No, I don’t think so. It will be the same squad as yesterday [Wednesday]. I think it will be a very intense game. It always is against Tottenham and I think it is also our style as well. So I think it is going to be a very dynamic, attractive game.”

Andre Onana will take his usual spot between the sticks, with the home side lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Tottenham. The backline should see one change, with Matthijs de Ligt replacing Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence. The Dutch centre-back will accompany Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, and Diogo Dalot in the backline.

As for the midfield unit, Kobbie Mainoo should return in the double pivot, lining up alongside Manuel Ugarte in the middle of the park. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho being the two wide attackers. Finally, Joshua Zirkzee will lead the line for Manchester United against Tottenham. So, Marcus Rashford will be on the bench, like last weekend.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho; Zirkzee
