Manchester United could sack Erik ten Hag by Christmas

Manchester United could sack Erik ten Hag by Christmas if he fails to quickly turn things around at Old Trafford.

Not many expected Erik ten Hag to be around for the start of the 2024/25 seasons. Not only did he manage to save his job, but he was even offered a new deal following their FA Cup triumph. But, things haven’t been that great of late and according to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United could sack the Dutch manager by Christmas if he doesn’t manage to turn around their fortunes.

Ten Hag was under a lot of pressure towards the end of last season. While they did manage to defeat rivals Manchester City to lift the FA Cup, the club were expected to part ways with the former Ajax manager.

But, they decided against it and handed him a new deal. On top of that, they went in and backed him in the summer transfer window to sign some of his top targets. Despite spending a fortune on player transfers and giving Ten Hag what he wanted, United haven’t got the desired results.

Ten Hag has time until Christmas to turn things around

The Red Devils have had a poor start to the new seasons. They have only won three out of their eight matches in the new season. The pressure is increasing on Ten Hag with every passing game. The draw against Crystal Palace and their failure to win against FC Twente (1-1) in their Europa League opener didn’t help.

Despite making significant investments to reinforce their backline, signing a new striker and a defensive midfielder, Ten Hag’s team haven’t been able to get the desired results. The manager is under the pump and reports suggest his future is not certain.

If the Dutch manager fails to quickly turn things around and get things back on track, United could sack Ten Hag. But, having spent a fortune in the summer, the Red Devils find themselves in a corner.

They are looking to give the former Ajax boss time until Christmas. But, if the situation doesn’t improve they will let him go and look to bring in someone who can help their cause.
