Manchester United might pursue Massimiliano Allegri to replace Erik ten Hag after sounding out the 57-year-old Italian tactician.
According to an update by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Massimiliano Allegri is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Premier League heavyweights are keeping their options open if they sack Erik ten Hag in the foreseeable future. So, they have sounded out the 57-year-old former Juventus and AC Milan manager over a possible move.
Massimiliano Allegri was a journeyman in Italy during his professional career. A native of Livorno, he was a midfielder in his playing days and represented 11 clubs, including SSC Napoli and Cagliari. He entered the managerial world in 2003 by taking charge of Aglianese Calcio.
Since then, the 57-year-old has managed six clubs, including AC Milan and Juventus, winning the Serie A title with both Italian heavyweights. Allegri has won 15 trophies in his managerial career, including six times in Serie A. In addition, he guided Juventus to two UEFA Champions League finals.
However, Allegri’s second spell with Juventus did not yield the desired results apart from the Coppa Italia triumph last season. So, the Bianconeri parted ways with the Italian tactician after the 2024/25 campaign ended. However, his stock in the market remains high, with Manchester United among his prospective suitors.
Manchester United might part ways with Erik ten Hag before the 2024/25 season ends if they do not show improvements. While recent reports have claimed that the Premier League club will not sack the Dutch tactician yet, the pressure on his shoulders is growing.
Meanwhile, several candidates, including Joachim Low, have emerged on Manchester United’s radar, with Massimiliano Allegri among the prospective targets. While the 57-year-old might not be an exciting target for Manchester United fans, he has proven his credentials by winning multiple Serie A titles and 15 overall trophies in his managerial career.
