Manchester United have made an official statement to confirm that they have appointed 42-year-old Swedish coach Andreas Georgson in the role of an assistant. The opportunity to move to Manchester United was quite attractive for the former Lillestrom manager.

Manchester United paid the buyout clause in Georgson’s contract before he could join the English club, and the reported fee is around 4 million NOK. The move is now complete, with Georgson leaving Lillestrom despite only joining the Norwegian outfit in January.

It seems that Manchester United are looking to reshape the backroom staff who will be integral to laying the foundations of a successful team for the foreseeable future. They have brought in a number of coaching appointments like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake this summer, and Georgson has been the latest one through the door.

The Red Devils are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they will provide him with the platform to showcase is abilities at the highest level and make a big difference in the Premier League.

Andreas Georgson could be a quality addition

The 42-year-old is highly rated as a coach in Norway, and he has the ability to succeed in English football. As iterated earlier, he has previously worked as an assistant at clubs like Brentford, Arsenal and Southampton. Manchester United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox brought him to Southampton in the past, and it seems that they are set for another reunion.
