Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo will return to the Liverpool starting lineup against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Liverpool have lost considerable ground in the title race, and they are unlikely to be able to match up with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City now. With just four matches remaining in the season, they will look to finish the campaign as strongly as possible and give Jurgen Klopp the send-off he deserves.
Both sides are going through a difficult time right now, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top when they face off at the London Stadium on Saturday. The Reds have dropped quite a few points in their recent outings, and they will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
There are no new injury issues for Liverpool heading into this game. Diogo Jota and Conor Bradley are expected to return next month, while the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are ruled out for the season. Cody Gakpo missed the Derby County game due to the birth of his child. But he has now returned to training and is expected to be a part of the squad.
Jurgen Klopp said in his pre-match press conference, “Yes, little Samuel is born. Don’t know the time exactly, but according to [Cody] everything [is] fine. Mum well, boy well, father well and back in training yesterday.”
The Liverpool manager continued, “Both not ready,” Klopp reported on Jota and Bradley. “Progressing well, [but] not ready and nobody told me yet they will start training in the next few days. I think it will take time, a little bit.”
Alisson Becker will start in goal for Liverpool, who are likely to shape up in a 4-3-3 formation. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will look to help out in the defence and contribute in the attack from the fullback positions. Ibrahima Konate will start at the heart of the defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.
In the midfield, Wataru Endo will start as the defensive midfielder and he will look to shield the back four. The likes of Harvey Elliott and Alexis Mac Allister will add creativity to the side. Darwin Nunez will continue to lead the line for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah on his right and Luis Diaz on the left.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
