Liverpool are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, with the Dutch side demanding a “decent compensation” for his services.
According to Sport Witness, Liverpool have expressed “concrete interest” in Feyenoord manager Arne Slot to replace long-serving German manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have been looking for a replacement for Jurgen Klopp since the German told the club’s chiefs in November that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Michael Edwards, the new chief executive officer of football for Liverpool’s owner, Fenway Sports Group, and incoming sporting director Richard Hughes are leading the club’s hunt for Klopp’s replacement.
Liverpool, currently in a three-horse race for the Premier League title, were hit in their search when early frontrunner and former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso committed his immediate future at Bayer Leverkusen.
Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim has been strongly linked with the job recently, although Feyenoord’s Arne Slot is now the focus of their attention, having emerged as the leading contender.

Slot has become the latest manager to be linked to the Liverpool hotseat, with multiple reports that the Merseyside-based outfit have opened talks with his current club, Feyenoord, to agree a compensation fee.
Known for an attractive playing style and rapid player development, Slot reportedly turned down the Tottenham job last summer in favour of staying with Feyenoord for another season. His side won the Dutch Cup on Sunday, beating NEC Breda in the final, and currently sit second in the Eredivisie.
He also led the club to the inaugural Europa Conference League final, losing to Roma in the showpiece, in his debut season as manager after succeeding Dick Advocaat.
They were, however, again knocked out of Europe by Roma, this time at the quarter-final stage of the Europa League this season after dropping down from their Champions League group.
There is no release clause in Slot’s Feyenoord contract, which runs until 2026, but a significant compensation fee could prise him away from the Rotterdam club.
The Reds appear to be moving quickly in their bid to secure Slot as the club’s next manager, with the Dutchman said to be keen to make the move to the Premier League side.
