Liverpool and Barcelona can acquire the services of the 39-year-old Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim for €10 million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, €10 million could be enough for a top club to prise Ruben Amorim away from Sporting CP. The 39-year-old has done wonders at the Portuguese club, and there is no shortage of interest in his services. Liverpool and Barcelona are two European giants keen on having him on their bench.
Ruben Amorim’s impressive work at Sporting CP
Amorim has been the Sporting CP boss since the start of 2020, and he has done wonders for them. The 39-year-old has transformed them into a winning machine and has helped them win numerous titles during his time at the club.
Sporting CP are currently pushing for the double. They are leading the race for the league title and are in the final of the domestic club. Their recent win over second-placed Benfica means they have a four-point advantage at the top and a game in hand.
Barcelona, Liverpool keen on Amorim
His performances have attracted interest from Barcelona as well as Liverpool. Xavi will be parting ways with the Spanish club at the end of the season, and the Catalan giants have been on the lookout for a new boss for a while now. They have been linked with the 39-year-old and could make a move for him.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after nine successful seasons at the club. The Reds wanted to bring in Xabi Alonso as his replacement, but the former Liverpool midfielder has committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen. As a result, they are pushing to land Amorim at the club and according to reports, their win over Benfica will speed up negotiations between the manager and the English club.
Amorim’s verbal pact with Sporting CP
While Ruben Amorim’s contract with Sporting CP runs until the summer of 2026, there are clauses in his deal that could lead to a departure in the summer. He has a €30 million release clause for clubs in Portugal, and a €20 million clause for clubs from abroad.
But, the most important point is that he has a verbal pact with the Portuguese club for a situation where a top club comes knocking. If a European giant makes a move to sign him, Sporting will let him leave for just €10 million as per the verbal pact. As a result, both Liverpool and Barcelona can appoint the 39-year-old as their new boss in the summer for a bargain price.
