Mohamed Salah will feature in the Liverpool starting lineup against Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.
Liverpool will aim to book a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals when they lock horns with Manchester United in the quarter-final tie at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. And Jurgen Klopp has greeted a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Ryan Gravenberch is in contention to feature after recovering from an ankle injury. But Ibrahima Konate faces a losing battle to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s cup tie. Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago Alcantara, and Diogo Jota remain on the sidelines.
Klopp discussed Konate and Gravenberch during his pre-match press conference. The Liverpool manager said, “Ibou didn’t train today. We have to see if he can train tomorrow but it will be a tight, tight race which we will probably lose, but we don’t know.”
“Bobby felt much better. That was uncomfortable, he got a knock there, a little swelling and that’s why [we had] the feeling that it might be something more serious but it’s not, so he’s fine. Ryan trained today again, so he’s ready.”
Gravenberch will return to the matchday squad but will unlikely feature in the Liverpool starting lineup against Manchester United. So, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai will form the midfield trifecta, with Gravenberch being an option on the bench. Harvey Elliott will also be a second-half substitute.
As for the attack, Luis Diaz should return, replacing Cody Gakpo on the left flank. The Colombian international will join Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez in the final third, with the latter leading the line for the away side against Manchester United.
The defensive unit should see a change, with Virgil van Dijk replacing Jarell Quansah at the heart of the backline. The Dutchman will accompany Joe Gomez in the central defensive pairing, with Andrew Robertson and Conor Bradley being the two full-backs. Finally, Caoimhin Kelleher will deputise for Alisson between the sticks.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Bradley, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
