Liverpool fans will hope to see Mohamed Salah returning to the starting lineup when they welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Sunday.
Liverpool will be eager to return to the top of the Premier League table when they host Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon. And despite having a lengthy list of absentees, the home side will be delighted that Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, and Mohamed Salah are likely to be a part of the match-day squad.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Konate is quite positive about his situation after being subbed off against Sparta Prague with a knock. Gomez and Salah came away unscathed in the midweek and are likely to play a part here.
“Yeah, fresh, Joe [Gomez] is fine – Ibou, I don’t know,” Klopp told reporters before continuing, “Ibou was rather positive last night [Thursday], he thought he made the right decision in the right moment saying it’s better I go [off]. But as we know, that doesn’t mean a lot, unfortunately. He will get scanned, definitely, [but] so far I don’t have the results of that. All the others are fine.”
On Salah, the Liverpool manager added: “Mo, there is nothing. He is fine.”
However, the Reds will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, and Thiago Alcantara.
Caoimhin Kelleher will deputise for Alisson. He has been highly impressive in his recent outings and will look to make his mark against Manchester City. Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson are likely to be deployed as the full-backs. They will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Ibrahima Konate will start alongside Virgil van Dijk in the central defensive unit.
In the middle of the park, Wataru Endo will be deployed as the defensive midfielder, and he will look to break up opposition attacks and protect the backline. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will add creativity, control and drive to the Liverpool midfield. Darwin Nunez will lead the line for Liverpool against Manchester City, with Mohamed Salah on his right and Luis Diaz on the left.
