Liverpool are interested in appointing former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick as their new manager starting next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool’s search for their next manager continues following Jurgen Klopp’s decision to his stint at the English club after this season. The Reds are looking for someone who can deliver similar success if not better and Hansi Flick is one of their targets.
Flick’s time with the German national team didn’t really go as planned. He was their manager for around two years during which they featured in 25 matches. He couldn’t get his ideas across to the players and they averaged only 1.72 points per game.
While he didn’t have the best of stints with Germany, Flick did do wonders during his time at Bayern Munich. He led the German giants to numerous titles during his time and averaged over 2.50 points per game.’
The 58-year-old has been without a role since parting ways with Germany last summer but he could soon return to the mix with Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp has already decided to part ways with the Reds at the end of the season. They are on the lookout for a new boss and Flick is one of their targets.
Liverpool’s interest in Hansi Flick
Klopp’s decision to leave came as a surprise but he did give the club enough time to look for the perfect replacement. The German manager had a huge impact on the club and they want to ensure they can continue producing similar returns after his departure. As a result, they want to bring in a world-class manager.
The Reds’ priority is to have Xabi Alonso in their ranks, their former midfielder has been doing wonders as Bayer Leverkusen’s boss. They are top of the Bundesliga and haven’t lost since the start of the season.
His impressive display has made him Liverpool’s top target. But, with Bayern Munich also keen on having him on their bench, signing him won’t be easy. While Alonso might be first on their wish list, Flick is another name they feel can help them cope with Klopp’s departure.
Signing Flick will also have its challenges, the 58-year-old might be without a job at this stage but there is no shortage of interest in him. Barcelona are one of the clubs interested in the German manager. Xavi will leave the club at the end of the season and they feel Flick could be the one to lead them from here on.
