Newcastle United are not looking to hire the former AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho to succeed Eddie Howe.
According to a report by Football Insider, Jose Mourinho might be linked with a move back to the Premier League, but his return seems unlikely. The former AS Roma manager has been linked with Newcastle United, but he is unlikely to join them.
Jose Mourinho: One of the Greatest of All Time
Mourinho is one of the greatest managers in the world of football. He has had success at almost every club that he has been at. And, since he is currently without a club, there are numerous teams from across the world interested in signing him.
AS Roma parted ways with the 60-year-old almost a week back. The Italian club were not happy with their team’s performances and decided to sack the Portuguese manager, who helped them win their first European trophy. He took charge of Roma in the summer of 2021 and managed them in a total of 138 matches and had an average of 1.70 points per game.
He led them to the UEFA Europa Conference League title in 2022, making him the first manager to win all three European titles. He did a decent job in the second season as well. There are numerous clubs as well as national teams that offered him a managerial role in the summer, but he declined to stay with the Italian club. Six months down the line, they have sacked him despite Roma being just three points outside the Champions League spot.
Now the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager’s future has become the biggest talking point. He has been linked with PIF-owned Newcastle United. Eddie Howe has had great success at the English club but of late, things haven’t been that great.
Newcastle United Linked with Jose Mourinho
Since the owners demand a lot, there is a lot of pressure on Howe and his future is not secure. Reports suggest that the PIF feel the need to appoint a new world-class manager and Mourinho could be their man. But, in reality, Mourinho to Newcastle won’t happen.
The PIF are huge admirers of the Portuguese tactician, and they would love to sign him for one of their Saudi Pro League clubs. The football revolution in the Middle East is in full flow, and Mourinho could be another big name joining them. While Al Shabab have been linked with the former Real Madrid boss, it will be interesting to see which club he ends up managing in the near future.
