Tottenham are keen to appoint a new director of football imminently to replace Fabio Paratici, with many options under consideration.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are looking to recruit a director of football on an immediate basis. Spurs want a replacement for Fabio Paratici in that position, which they hope will help them search for a new manager.
Tottenham cannot get anything right at the moment, be it their managerial search or results on the pitch. Their defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend meant they cannot qualify for next season’s Champions League. It may further affect their player recruitment and the search for a new head coach.
Tottenham have endured a difficult season with results, Antonio Conte, and then the debacle with their director of football, Fabio Paratici. The Italian executive got handed a 30-month ban by the Italian FIGC for his role in the Juventus scandal.
However, the ban was then made worldwide, and his appeals were quashed. That meant he could not continue operating in his Tottenham role, and the club recently notified the two parties had parted ways by mutual consent. Paratici’s departure leaves Spurs without a director of football, and they want to recruit a replacement immediately.
They were reportedly linked with Getafe director Ramon Planes. But talks of a move have cooled since those initial reports. They have also held talks with the technical director of London rivals Brentford Lee Dykes. But negotiations have since stalled.
Johannes Spors, who oversees recruitment at multiple clubs through his role as the Global Director at 777 Sports, is also a target. Tottenham are reportedly interested in him as a replacement for Paratici. They want the executive to focus his attention solely on one club.
The need for a director of football and Paratici’s replacement seems important at Tottenham. Recently, talks between the club and top managerial target Julian Nagelsmann ended for similar reasons. Ideally, Tottenham want someone to carry forward the club’s ideas in the market and work closely with the new manager.

Hence, they want to quickly finalise the replacement to move ahead with their plans. Those include recruiting a new manager and then bringing in the right players. Beyond the already mentioned options, many more could emerge in the coming weeks.
