Tottenham considering prioritising Mauricio Pochettino swoop

Harry Kane has been linked with a summer move away from Tottenham, who reckon they can keep him if they appoint Mauricio Pochettino.

Harry Kane will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season, and Tottenham have not managed to sign an extension with him. A report from Football Insider claims that they are looking to bring in Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s new manager to convince the Manchester United target to sign a new deal with them.

Kane enjoyed a strong relationship with the Argentine manager during his previous spell at the club. And Tottenham believed that his return could convince the 29-year-old to commit his long-term future to the club. Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham for months now.

Apparently, Manchester United are looking to sign the England international at the end of the season. The 29-year-old is one of the best players on the planet, and he has 23 goals across all competitions this season.

His departure would be a devastating blow for Tottenham who have been overly dependent on him for goals. Players like Son Heung-min and Richarlison have failed to find the back of the net consistently. So Spurs simply cannot afford to lose Kane right now.

Mauricio Pochettino got the best out of the England international and helped establish him as one of the best strikers in the league. It remains to be seen whether the Argentine is prepared to return to the London club in the summer. Tottenham currently view him as one of the options to replace Antonio Conte.

Conte will be a free agent at the end of the season, and Tottenham are not keen on extending his stay at the club. There have been rumours that the Italian manager could be sacked before the end of the season. Conte was recently involved in a furious outburst after his team’s 3-3 draw against Southampton in the Premier League.

The Italian tactician branded his players as selfish and questioned their commitment towards the club. It seems that Conte has already lost his dressing room, and his constant criticism of the club hierarchy regarding transfers has soured the relationship with the board as well.

The relationship with the Italian manager could be at a point of no return, and it is better for all parties to part ways as soon as possible. As far as the long-term future of Kane is concerned, the 29-year-old will be hoping to play for a club capable of winning major trophies at this stage of his career. Spurs will have to match up to his ambitions in order to convince him to stay.
