Liverpool will take on Premier League rivals Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon and the Reds will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the league.

The home side are coming Into this contest on the back of a 3-0 defeat against Brighton in their last league outing and the fans will be expecting a strong reaction from the players here.

Liverpool cannot afford to keep dropping points if they want to secure Champions League qualification and this will be a must-win contest for them.

The Reds are up against a direct top-four rival and a defeat here could be damaging in their pursuit of European football.

There are no new injury concerns for Liverpool and they continue to be without the likes of Arthur Melo, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Darwin Nunez is back in training and the Uruguayan international is set to play a part against Chelsea.

When asked whether Nunez is ‘closer for selection’, Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “Yes.”

Meanwhile, he also added that young defensive midfielder Stefan Bajcetic is in his thoughts for the game after an impressive performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the midweek.

On Bajcetic being in his thoughts, Klopp said: “He was always, he [has been] for a while. He was injured for two games, I think. He’s in my thoughts. You cannot be closer to a team than be always in a squad, coming on, stuff like this. He was only not in a squad twice, I think, because he was injured – but nothing serious but painful. He was out, now he played and, yes, he’s closer.”

The Reds are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation with Alisson Becker in goal.

Trent Alexander Arnold and Andrew Robertson are expected to continue as the fullbacks here with Joel Matip partnering with Ibrahima Konate in the heart of a back four.

Fabinho will be expected to anchor the midfield and break up the opposition play. Thiago Alcantara will be hoping to control the tempo of the game and dominate the proceedings in the middle of the park.

Club captain Jordan Henderson is expected to start as well and he will add drive and defensive cover to the side.

Darwin Nunez is set to lead the line upon his return with Mohamed Salah on his right and January signing Cody Gakpo on the left.

Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Konate, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo
