Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez will return to the starting lineup when Manchester United and Bournemouth face off on Tuesday.
Manchester United will look to continue the recent winning run when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford on Tuesday night. And Erik ten Hag has greeted more positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Lisandro Martinez has been training with the group for a few days since returning from his post-World Cup break. In addition, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot are returning to contention after missing the last few games. So Jadon Sancho and Axel Tuanzebe are the only absentees for the foreseeable future.
During his pre-match press conference, ten Hag spoke about his optimism of having Martinez and McTominay available again. The Manchester United boss said, “We have to see. Both were training yesterday and today, so I am quite optimistic about [them] returning to the squad, both of them.”
The Dutchman also gave an update on Dalot, saying, “Diogo Dalot also, he is making good progress. But we don’t want to take risks with anyone because we know there are many games to come and we need a full squad to cover all the games.”
Dalot will unlikely feature before the weekend. So Aaron Wan-Bissaka will continue as the right-back. But Tyrell Malacia should drop to the bench, with Luke Shaw moving to the left-back spot. That is because Lisandro Martinez should return to the starting lineup, pairing up with Raphael Varane at the heart of the Manchester United defence. Meanwhile, David de Gea picks himself in the goal.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. But McTominay might be fit enough to make the bench, where he will have Fred for company. Bruno Fernandes will be the most advanced midfielder against Bournemouth. The Portuguese international will don the armband again for the hosts.
Marcus Rashford was not in the starting lineup against Wolverhampton Wanderers due to an internal disciplinary issue. But the English international will take his place on the left flank, with Alejandro Garnacho making way. Finally, Antony will likely continue on the right wing, with Anthony Martial leading the line for Manchester United.
Predicted Manchester United XI: de Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford, Martial
