Tottenham looking to appoint new Fabio Paratici aide to ensure Antonio Conte stay

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to aid Fabio Paratici by bringing in a new management personnel to work under the Italian.

According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are once again looking to make changes to their board by adding new management personnel, who can work directly under director Fabio Paratici. The Italian currently assumes control of a large portion of the club’s recruitment department, but it appears chairman Daniel Levy is hoping to provide him with some aid ahead of a crucial summer window.

Tottenham’s search for new managing personnel comes over a year after they forced Steve Hitchen to quit the club. Hitchen was formerly a technical performance director for many years, but his role at the club was diminished following the arrival of Paratici, who assumed greater control of operatiosn.

Most of the operations at Tottenham are currently controlled by Paratici. The Italian was the brains behind the club’s two excellent January signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

At the same time, Paratici faced fierce criticism from fans and even coach Antonio Conte for his failure to land some of the club’s top targets. Adama Traore, in particular, was one of Conte’s priorities that he had missed out on, with the Spaniard opting to join FC Barcelona on a short-term loan deal.

The relationship between Conte and Paratici has settled since, but in order to add more efficacy to Spurs’ activity in the transfer market, the club wants to add a new member to the recruitment department, who can act as the right-hand man for Paratici.

The incoming member will be Paratici’s No. 2 and is likely to hold a considerable managerial background and influence, given that he is mainly being hired in order to help Tottenham land their top targets in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The report from The Sun fails to pinpoint any particular candidate favoured by the club. But it won’t be surprising to see the Lilywhites hiring an Englishman, given the way the club have shifted their transfer policy in recent times, turning their attention towards homegrown youngsters with the potential to improve.

Peterborough United defender Ronnie Edwards, for one, is one of many Championship talents who have already been linked with a move to Spurs in the new season. And while Paratici’s influence might be redundant in such a situation, the club could greatly benefit from the presence of a well-renowned English director, who has a vast knowledge of domestic football and is well connected to Championship clubs.
