Mauricio Pochettino in regular contact with Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino could be an option for Tottenham in the summer, after remaining in regular contact with chairman Daniel Levy.

Tottenham may have found their rhythm under Antonio Conte in recent weeks, but the future of the Italian still hangs in the balance. The former Inter Milan manager has a contract until the end of next season, and the events that transpire in the summer may dictate his immediate fate.

Recently, when Spurs were on a bad run of form, Conte hinted at leaving the club prematurely. Star striker Harry Kane may also consider quitting if Conte is not backed properly in the summer window. However, in recent weeks, the team have shown resilience and unity on the pitch, which may be signs of them finding stability under Conte.

Many have raised significant doubts about Spurs meeting Conte’s demands in the summer, which could lead to the Italian leaving the club. If that happens, Tottenham could look to appoint former manager Mauricio Pochettino as their next head coach.

Pochettino’s future at PSG remains uncertain after the club’s elimination from the Champions League. The Parisian club had lofty ambitions to lift the coveted European trophy after significant investment in the team over the summer.

Their exit has already resulted in the fanbase booing their star players in a recent match, and there is little confidence in their current manager. Pochettino was linked with the Spurs job earlier in the season when Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked, although he remained at PSG.

However, he is already tipped to replace Conte if the Italian leaves in the summer. The report from Football Insider insists that the Argentine has been in constant touch with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, which could accelerate a decision from Tottenham over his appointment next summer.

Pochettino is reportedly keen on a reunion, although Spurs might stick to their guns with Conte and look to back the Italian sufficiently in the next window.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Pochettino’s situation as the Argentine features on their shortlist for candidates to become the next full-time manager at Old Trafford. He does have significant competition from Erik ten Hag and Thomas Tuchel for the Red Devils job, although it seems like Pochettino might prefer Spurs if the opportunity arose.
