Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici reportedly has no desire to leave the club amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to The Athletic, Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of signing Fabio Paratici have been dealt with a massive blow. The Tottenham managing director of football is not thinking about leaving the north London outfit until the end of his contract and is currently enjoying working alongside head coach Antonio Conte and chairman Daniel Levy.
Paratici had emerged as PSG’s desired replacement for Leonardo, who is expected to depart in the summer after the team yet again succumbed to an exit in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
The recent defeat to Real Madrid, in particular, has led to fierce criticism over the team’s management, with even President Nasser Al-Khelaifi facing an uncertain future at PSG. The fans had also jeered some of the players, including Lionel Messi and Neymar, in the recent win over Bordeaux, which signals a potential overhaul in the coming summer.
Paratici is part of PSG’s plans to reshape the team management, with Les Parisiens also likely to sack Mauricio Pochettino, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
However, it appears Paratici has no intention of leaving Tottenham before his contract expires, with the deal running out at the end of next season. The Italian mastermind was brought in to build a lasting empire at the club, following a period of mediocrity.
So far into his new role as the managing director of football, Paratici has assumed control of the club’s transfer policy. But Spurs had a relatively poor January window, failing to land top targets and ultimately settling for Juventus duo Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. It even led to a scathing remark from head coach Antonio Conte.
But that has not deterred Paratici from remaining committed to his current role at Tottenham. The 49-year-old, in fact, is looking forward to the summer, where he is expected to receive greater financial support from chairman Daniel Levy. It could result in the addition of better players who are suited to Conte’s tactical setup.
As for PSG, missing out on Paratici could be significant and will force the Parisian juggernaut to scour the market for an ideal replacement for Leonardo. Their choice of a new director could solely depend on the new coach, which explains why PSG were also targeting Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, as both he and Paratici share a great rapport.
