Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino amid fears over Antonio Conte’s future.

A recent report from the Telegraph has offered insights into Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial dilemma. The Lilywhites are currently struggling with uncertainty regarding the future of their current coach Antonio Conte, who may leave the club at the end of the season. In case of his potential departure, Spurs are apparently keeping tabs on Mauricio Pochettino, with club chairman Daniel Levy open to bringing him back to London.

Conte has recently made headlines by openly criticising the board for failing to land his top targets, accusing the club of instead weakening the squad by selling a host of star players. Conte’s public comments haven’t gone down well with Levy, who has instructed the manager not to take part in interviews with the Italian press.

Nevertheless, Conte has recently come out in front of the English media and attempted to lower the expectations at Tottenham after a poor January transfer window. For Levy, it is apparent that the former Inter Milan manager may soon jump ship, given the short-term nature of his contract. The Italian has already been courted by Paris Saint-Germain, but that is where things get interesting.

The report suggests Levy is open to reappointing current PSG manager Pochettino as the head coach next season in an attempt to steady the ship at Spurs. The Lilywhites were in contention for the Argentine tactician last summer, but it was always going to be difficult for them to convince the former Espanyol trainer to quit PSG in the middle of the window where they had signed the likes of Lionel Messi and Achraf Hakimi.

However, halfway into the season, a season-end departure from PSG is seemingly a possibility for Pochettino. The Argentine has faced a lot of criticism for being unable to get the best out of some of his players, while the team’s performances haven’t been overly convincing, despite their unassailable lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are among the major contenders to hire Pochettino next season. But Spurs’ entry into the race for him could make things interesting, knowing the manager does share a deep bond with the club and chairman Daniel Levy.
