Marco Asensio reportedly has no intention of leaving Real Madrid and will snub Arsenal and Liverpool to stay put at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Arsenal, Liverpool and others have been handed a major blow in pursuit of Marco Asensio. The Spanish attacker is ready to snub his suitors to stay put at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window.
Marco Asensio has been with Real Madrid since arriving from RCD Mallorca in July 2015. But he has yet to establish himself as a key figure for Los Blancos six and a half years on from initially arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu. Having said that, the 26-year-old has shown signs of resurgence in the ongoing campaign.
The Spanish international has a decent tally of eight goals and one assist in 25 appearances across all competitions this season. But for a long time, Asensio’s Real Madrid future has not been set in stone, which has kept prospective suitors interested in a possible swoop. Arsenal and Liverpool are two of the clubs keen on securing his services.
The renewed interest from Arsenal comes in the wake of recent claims pointing towards the end of their pursuit. But Arsenal might need to sign someone like the Real Madrid forward as Nicolas Pepe faces an uncertain future at the Emirates, thereby creating the need to bolster the attacking unit.
As for Liverpool, the Reds have reportedly been linked with Asensio for a long time, although they do not have the need for a new attacker following the arrival of Luis Diaz in the January transfer window. While the futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane remain uncertain, it is unlikely that either will depart Anfield in the summer.
Apart from Arsenal and Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest in the Real Madrid attacker. But Asensio has no intention of leaving Real Madrid anytime soon and will fight for his place in the side despite the reported impending arrival of Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
Asensio is prioritising staying at Real Madrid beyond the summer transfer window as per Defensa Central. Carlo Ancelotti is also a fan of the 26-year-old’s talents and will look to keep hold of the Spanish attacker. As for Arsenal and Liverpool, they will likely have to set their sights elsewhere in search of an attacking reinforcement.
