Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah will start, while Sadio Mane will be in contention to feature when Liverpool and Burnley face off at Turf Moor on Sunday.
Liverpool will aim to continue their winning run when they lock horns with Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon. And Jurgen Klopp has a full-strength squad at his disposal ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Jordan Henderson is in contention to feature after missing the midweek Premier League tie against Leicester City due to a minor back issue. Sadio Mane is also back at Klopp’s disposal, having resumed training on Friday afternoon, following his Africa Cup of Nations triumph with Senegal.
During his pre-match press conference, Klopp spoke about the possibility of Mane’s involvement while also providing other team news updates. The Liverpool boss said, “Sadio will come [in] this morning for training and I assume he will be in full training and then we make a decision after that on how he feels and all that stuff.”
“He will probably still be emotionally high-flying, but physically we have to see how intense the last few days were for him. Hendo, yes, definitely will be back. That’s the plan, was the plan before the game and is still the plan now. If nothing happens, he will play on Sunday.”
Henderson will indeed play against Burnley, returning to the starting lineup in place of Curtis Jones. The Liverpool captain will line up alongside Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara in the middle of the park.
As for the defensive unit, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk will continue pairing up at the heart of the Liverpool backline. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson pick themselves as the two full-backs, with Alisson Becker resuming his duties between the sticks.
Finally, Klopp has a plethora of options to choose from in the final third, especially following Mane’s return. But Mane will likely be placed on the bench, with Luis Diaz continuing on the left wing. On the opposite flank, Mohamed Salah is expected to return, with Diogo Jota spearheading the Liverpool attack instead of Roberto Firmino.
Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Diaz
