Transfer News: Atletico Madrid, Sevilla plotting Bosman move for Alexandre Lacazette

La Liga giants Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette over a Bosman move.

According to Fichajes, Alexandre Lacazette could be set for a move to La Liga in the summer transfer window. The Arsenal striker’s current deal at the Emirates expires at the end of the season, with the Premier League giants having no intention to extend his contract at the club. It has put multiple clubs on alert, with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid listed among his potential suitors.

Lacazette’s expiring contract means the Frenchman will be available for free in the summer. It makes him an ideal target for these two La Liga giants, with Atletico Madrid, in particular, bracing themselves for life without Luis Suarez.

The experienced Uruguayan striker’s current deal at Wanda Metropolitano expires at the end of the season, and the player has been linked with a potential return to the Premier League. While one would imagine Liverpool being a potential destination, the former Barcelona star has been subjected to a shocking move to Aston Villa, with Steven Gerrard reportedly keen on a reunion.

Suarez’s impending departure could create a massive void in Atletico Madrid’s goalscoring department. It won’t be surprising to see Los Rojiblancos spend the big bucks on replacing Suarez, but in Lacazette, Diego Simeone could find himself a smart, cost-effective backup with a proven track record at the highest level of football.

Sevilla, too, remain keen on the 30-year-old as they brace themselves for a potential exit of Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer. Curiously, Arsenal are among the clubs chasing the Moroccan striker, although the Gunners won’t be able to use Lacazette as leverage in a deal to sign the Sevilla forward.

Nevertheless, Lacazette is high on the list of these two La Liga giants, thanks to his experience at the highest level of football. The Arsenal striker has featured in a combined total of almost 350 top-flight matches in England and France. During his time at Arsenal, he has netted 70 goals in 193 competitive games, notably winning the FA Cup.

Although the Frenchman’s spell at Arsenal has been overshadowed by the presence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the most part, the Gabonese international’s recent departure to Barcelona has made Lacazette the undisputed first-choice striker for Arsenal for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

However, the Gunners are set to move on from the Frenchman ahead of a major overhaul in the attacking unit. With Aubameyang gone, and Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah likely to be axed, the Londoners are expected to go after a top-class striker in the summer, with Mikel Arteta firmly setting his sights on Victor Osimhen, among many others.
