Manchester City are reportedly among the clubs keeping tabs on Sheffield Wednesday youngster Bailey Cadamarteri.

According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are facing a battle to keep hold of Bailey Cadamarteri. The 16-year-old has impressed the onlookers across England with his performances in the youth competitions and is now a target for multiple clubs, even from the Premier League, including Manchester City.

The reigning English champions have been monitoring the progress of Cadamarteri for a while now. They are believed to be weighing up a potential move for the youngster, although they are yet to launch an enquiry, unlike West Ham United, the other Premier League club interested in the 16-year-old.

A centre forward by trade, Cadamarteri was formerly a member of the Huddersfield Town academy before he eventually moved on to Sheffield Wednesday. He is notably the son of former Everton and Leeds United striker Danny Cadamarteri, who is currently an individual coach at Sheffield United’s Under-18 camp.

As a result, the youngster is playing his football up north for the time being. But he could soon be set for a move elsewhere, having made quite an impression with his consistent performances in the youth competitions.

Indeed, the 16-year-old has made a name for himself with his scoring prowess in the Elite Development League. His exploits have even put Manchester City on alert, as the Citizens look to incorporate him in their groundbreaking youth setup that has yielded talented players such as Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer in the recent past.

Cadamarteri is not the only young player Manchester City have been linked with this year. At the end of last month, the English champions were reportedly targeting a late swoop for MTK Budapest youngster Zalan Vancsa. They have been able to complete the move as well, signing the player as part of the Belgian side Lommel, which is owned by the City group.

The English giants are hoping for a similar deal with Cadamarteri, who has already shown that he is capable of performing at a higher level this season. At the age of just 16, the wonderkid could be eligible to sign a professional deal in other European leagues, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Sheffield Wednesday starlet in the coming months.
