Transfer News: Arsenal weighing up late swoop for Dejan Kulusevski

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Arsenal could reportedly rival Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of Dejan Kulusevski, who is tipped to leave Turin in the coming days.

According to Rudy Galetti, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Dejan Kulusevski in the remaining days of the winter transfer window. The Juventus starlet is primarily a target for Tottenham Hotspur, but the Gunners are closely monitoring the negotiations, hoping to hijack a move late in the month.

Formerly of Atalanta, Kulusevski is facing an uncertain future at Juventus after the Bianconeri recently brought in Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina. The youngster had already fallen behind the likes of Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and even Moise Kean in the pecking order, restricting him to just five starts in Serie A.

The addition of Vlahovic is set to further reduce his value in the Juventus first-team. As such, the explosive forward is prepared to move elsewhere before the ongoing January transfer window comes to a close.

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to take advantage of this by launching a late attempt to sign the forward. The north London giants have reportedly proposed a reasonable short-term loan offer with an option to buy him from Juventus in the summer. The Italian giants are believed to be open to a deal, knowing they will have the opportunity to recoup the money they spent on the player a couple of years ago.

However, Tottenham could face late competition from arch-rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of Kulusevski. Much like the Lilywhites, their north London neighbours have not had much success in the market, failing to bring in a single player so far.

On the flip side, they have been able to offload multiple fringe players, with Calum Chambers most recently joining Aston Villa on a permanent deal. But it appears Mikel Arteta is keen on securing a late move for Kulusevski in an attempt to rev up his attacking unit following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s fall from grace and Alexandre Lacazette’s uncertain future at the club.

Even Eddie Nketiah is being linked with a late move to Newcastle United, further accentuating the need for a new forward. Kulusevski could prove to be an excellent option given his potential and versatility in the final third. As it stands, though, Tottenham appear to be leading the chase to sign the Swede, so it is up to Arsenal to come up with a lucrative offer in the remaining days of the transfer market.
