Youssoufa Moukoko’s agent Patrick Williams has hinted that the 17-year-old is unsettled at Borussia Dortmund amid interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
According to Tribal Football, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United are interested in Youssoufa Moukoko. According to his agent Patrick Williams, the German under-21 international is unsettled at Borussia Dortmund and might seek solutions to progress rapidly in his career.
Youssoufa Moukoko is widely regarded as one of the brightest young players in Germany, having made rapid progress in the youth setup at Borussia Dortmund before breaking into their first-team squad on 21 November 2020, just a day after he turned 16. Since then, his progress has been slow as the teenage prodigy has made only sporadic appearances for the Bundesliga giants.
In the ongoing campaign, the 17-year-old has turned out only 12 times for Dortmund, garnering just 249 minutes of game-time in the process. With Erling Haaland and Donyell Malen ahead of him in the pecking order, playing time has understandably been hard to come by for Moukoko. But his situation has left the player frustrated, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United hot on his trail.
Barcelona and Real Madrid often go head-to-head in pursuit of the brightest young players across Europe and beyond, with their latest target being Brazilian prodigy Endrick, who is coincidentally also an option for Manchester United.
The three clubs are hard in search of a striker in the transfer market, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also waging a battle for Erling Haaland. Barcelona’s need for a striker has been accentuated by Sergio Aguero’s recent retirement, which has left Xavi Hernandez without a reliable centre-forward at his disposal.
On the other hand, Real Madrid might have started laying down a succession plan for Karim Benzema, who is 34 years old. And while the Frenchman has been in incredible form, he is approaching the final phase of his career, thereby necessitating the arrival of a young striker.
As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are also keen on bringing in someone young who can first learn the ropes from Cristiano Ronaldo for a couple of years before taking over from the Portuguese international on a full-time basis. And Moukoko fits the bill perfectly. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United have now been handed a major boost in the 17-year-old’s pursuit, with his agent suggesting he is unsettled at Dortmund.
“It is not a matter of course that Youssoufa is extending BVB,” Williams said. “Of course, many clubs are interested in Youssoufa, that’s no secret. The end of his contract in the summer of 2023 is getting closer, the top clubs have that on the slip.”
“Yes, injuries have thrown him back a bit this season. Yes, the competition at BVB is of course great. But he hardly gets the playing time that he needs in the current phase of his career in Dortmund. So of course we think about what is best for the future.”
Those words from Williams will be like music to the ears of his suitors. But with Haaland likely to leave Dortmund in the summer, Moukoko might be better off staying put at Signal Iduna Park and bide his time before possibly contesting to become the first-choice striker for the Bundesliga giants next season.
