Paris Saint-Germain midfielders Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler are reportedly open to joining Tottenham on loan this month.
According to 90 min, there could be a flurry of transfer activity between Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain this month. The Ligue 1 giants have players such as Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler seeking an exit, with the midfield duo reportedly open to joining Spurs on loan this month.
Tottenham could be set for a busy period ahead of deadline day as the transfer window draws to a close. Antonio Conte is keen on bolstering his squad, as the manager wants to move out players and bring in new names to finish in the top four.
With no European football on offer this season, Tottenham offer the promise of a top four finish and qualification for next season’s Champions League. Conte remains unconvinced over some of his current squad members, including Dele Alli and record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
Both players are linked with a move away from the club, with Spurs expecting them to leave on loans. Ndombele is keen on joining PSG, having been frozen out of the first-team picture and practising away from the squad.
Tottenham are hoping to lure at least one PSG midfielder primed to leave Paris this month. Attacking midfielder Julian Draxler and former Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum are preparing their exits from Parc Des Princes before the transfer deadline, with the duo open to joining Spurs.
Wijnaldum has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal on loan. The Gunners have since switched their attention towards Juventus’s Arthur Melo, paving the path for Spurs to make their move. It is unclear why the Dutchman wants to leave a club with the potential of winning the Champions League and join clubs that are not competing in Europe or for major trophies.
It is understood the midfielder wants a change of scene as he has grown unhappy with his season with PSG. He has been craving a return to the Premier League and Tottenham seem like the ideal destination after his rejection of Newcastle United’s proposal earlier in the window.
Meanwhile, Draxler has not been getting regular playing time under Mauricio Pochettino this season after the arrival of Lionel Messi. The German international is keen to represent his nation in the Qatar World Cup and will likely be selected if he plays regularly.
Tottenham could become a good option as the north Londoners might look at Draxler as a potential upgrade to Giovani Lo Celso, who is tipped to depart the club this month.
The duo’s arrival in north London could certainly boost the quality of Tottenham’s squad and probably please Antonio Conte. The PSG midfield duo will also increase Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four ahead of Manchester United, West Ham United and Arsenal.
